This case was managed with a digital smile design, conscious sedation and full-contour zirconia crowns. The digital smile design was used to fabricate a prototype, or provisional teeth, to simulate the final restoration. The prototype is the exact shape and color of the proposed final crowns. In most cases, the patient is thrilled with every aspect of the prototype, but in some cases, the shape or color of the teeth needs to be adjusted prior to the fabrication of the final restoration. Once the patient approves the prototype, a digital impression is captured and transferred to the lab to fabricate the final crowns exactly like the prototype. This digital workflow guarantees satisfaction! In this case we performed a complete exam and x-rays along with a dental cleaning to start, followed by a treatment review appointment, then pre-treatment appointment, then the actual appointment under sedation. One week, later a follow up appointment to approve temps and then a final appointment to install all porcelain crowns. That is 10 teeth on the top and 10 teeth on the bottom in 6-8 weeks and about 6 appointments. Times may vary depending on the case. Same day smiles are also available and in some cases, treatment is delayed for varying reasons such as teeth replacement with dental implants.
